This summer I’ve noticed I’ve been religiously using and abusing some key beauty products. I decided I should probably share them with you because they are truly life changing products. So without further ado, here are my summer beauty favorites for 2015:
1. Victoria’s Secret Instant Bronzing Tinted Shimmer Lotion
Well, if that wasn’t a mouthful I don’t know what is. This lotion is a summer essential. I purchased this bronzing lotion at Victoria’s Secret about two years ago and I literally love it so much. While it seems intimidating, it is a blessing in a bottle. Since I happen to be one of the pale few, I never really seem to acquire the summer glow that I wish to. I also have a very rocky relationship with fake tanning because I am too afraid to come out looking like a carrot stick. This lotion eliminates fake tanning because its basically super temporary fake tan in a lotion. This lotion is tinted, but only enough to give you a tan looking glow. I love using this on freshly shaved legs (that’s when I think it works best) because it makes me just a little bit more tan and glowy.
2. Benefit High Beam
Speaking of glowy, Benefit’s High Beam liquid highlighter is one of the best highlighters on the market in my opinion. While this product is one of the most praised, it is still a classic. What I love about this highlighter is that instead of making your face look oily like some highlighters have a tendency to do, it makes your face look bright and dewy. There is a fine line between a good and bad highlighter but this product is definitely one of the best. Plus, to justify paying twenty-something dollars for this small bottle, I can personally assure you that it lasts forever.
3. Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade
Oh. My. God. Yes. While eyebrows continue to have their moment (although contouring probably overtook them in most talked about beauty trend) you have to try this product. This brow gel works wonders. I will literally swear by this product as if my life depended on it. Unlike pencils, which can be tricky for eyebrow newcomers, the pomade tends to go on more naturally. Plus, unlike some brow powders or pencils, this brow pomade stays in place until you scrub it off. This is good news especially in the summery seasons when you don’t want your brows melting off your face.
4. Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (Bolero)
One part of my beauty regimen that I love experimenting with is lips. I recently have been drawn to a more toned down lip that is a bit more rose and brown toned. I don’t know if it has to do with Kylie Jenner’s lips or if this color is currently having a moment, but I love it. I have grown to be quite fond of Nars especially their lip products because they have a nice array of colors, most of which are matte or satin finish. One downside that I’ve found to this product is its tendency to dry out my lips, because it is a matte pencil, but that won’t deter me from wearing it all summer!
5. Ambiguous Maybelline Lip Gloss
So, a little back story. A few months ago I purchased a beautiful Buxom lip gloss that I absolutely love and adore. I love and adore it so much that I basically used almost the whole tube in about three months. While I was cleaning out some of my purses recently I found this Maybelline lip gloss, which I tried out and ended up loving. The color is perfectly subtle and rosy and the consistency isn’t sticky or gross. Unfortunately, since I found it in one of my purses from forever-ago I don’t know the color or line it is from, but I’m sure you could find a similar one by Maybelline at the drug store.
6. American Apparel Scrunchies
I absolutely love scrunchies and I started bringing them back about a year and a half ago. I am not a huge fan of wearing my hair up, even in the summer months, but whenever I do, I put it in a scrunchie. Scrunchies are the best because they are actually really easy on your hair. Unlike thin and rigid ponytail holders that can break and tear your hair, scrunchies are easier on your hair. Plus, they make a great accessory. I love American Apparel’s because they have such a nice variety of materials, colors, and patterns at a really great price. Definitely check them out!
7. Cat Eye Sunnies from Art Effect
A few months ago when I was trying to find a new pair of sunglasses before spring and summer, I popped into a small boutique shop in Chicago. If you’re familiar with the area, it is right near the Armitage Brown Line stop and it is perfection. I just happened across these sunnies (which were super affordable and cute) and knew I couldn’t leave without them. I can’t stop wearing these, seriously.
So there you have it friends, my summer beauty favorites for 2015. Maybe I’ll do a summer fashion favorites as well, who knows.
What are you loving for this summer?
